On January 31, 2020, a record of 300 patrons participated in this premiere fundraiser at DeCarlo’s Banquet Hall in Warren, Michigan for the benefit of St. Francis Camp on the Lake in Jerome, Michigan. Manresa Caravan had three tables of participants. Master of Ceremonies was Russ Smith. William Chasse presented a check to Manresa’s own Ed Smith, President of the Camp, in the amount of $20,000. The Blessing before the meal was delivered by Manresa’s own Fr. Paul Ballien of St. John Neumann Church in Canton, Michigan.
Other activities included a “TIN CAN” raffle, a silent auction, a live auction, an arcade duck shoot , two “Share the Wealth” 50/50s, various gun raffles, and a beaded necklace heads or tails contest. The two finalist for the beaded contest was Alhambra Region IV Supreme Director Pat Plotkowski and Gary DeCarlo who won the contest. The food served were pig ribs, venison/buffalo chili, venison stew in a bread bowl, followed by the main dinner of tossed “wild” green salad, green beans, oven browned red skin potatoes, turkey wild rice stir fry, deep fried frog legs, elk sausage with peppers and onions, pasta with venison and buffalo, dinner rolls and cheesecake. Included refreshments were sodas, draft beer, coffee, and of course water. Three of Manresa members won either various 50/50s or gift certificates to Bass Pro Shop at Great Lakes Crossing.
